Practicing English verb tenses (and get things off my chest)
I am writing now (?) in order to improve my English and, maybe, to get things off my chest. I am going to try to be playful, but it is not a guarantee.
I have lived on Planet Earth for more than 27 years. I think I have not done something really significant until now, but I believe I will do it presently. Maybe you know the difference between "presently" (meaning 'soon') and "at present" (mening 'now'), these false friends, rsrsrsrs...hmm, that's not funny...but "presently" is great! When will Jesus return? "Presently...he is arriving...". When will I have an arise in my wage? When will we live in peace? You have already known.
Brazil has been called "the country of the future" since 19XY (or 18XY?). We, brazilian people, have been waiting for a national messiah since Vargas high times, or before it. Yes, I am brazilian, and I work. I've been working as public official since 2004 and it is not that bad. My first job was in a clothes store, as a sales assistant, but I wasn't good at this job. I used to sell few items of clothing. I would prefer reading, and I used to do it - because actually I had much time to read there...
I was born in Rio de Janeiro, at Hospital de Clínicas da Uerj, in 1981. The complete date doesn't matter. I just know that I was criyng when I saw the light (the light of the birth room). I had waited for nine months and, suddenly, I came to this world. I had been swimming when they decided to spoil it. But I decided not to complain, because its no use to do it, unless you want to be a blog writer.
I don't know when I will die, but I will have worked ans wrote for some years when the 'final day' comes, of course! Will I be living in Brazil? Probably. I won't be practicing the future perfect continuos tense, I guess so. No, I have to do it, as a prophet: "by the end of this year, I will have been writing bullshit for four years". Indeed, I intend to do it presently.
At the end of the day, I have simply done an almost useless exercise. But since it was an "almost useless' exercise, It was a useful one. Yes, the hypotetical reader is permitted to criticize my fair English and my boring speech. Bye bye for now!
